Author Talk: When Women Vote and Lead

Colorado 50-50 is hosting an author talk on Tuesday, October 8, from 7-8:30 PM in Denver. Stephanie Donner and Amber McReynolds wrote When Women Vote, which highlights the challenges Americans, particularly women, face in the current voting process and the amazing things that happen with reform. They make the case for further voting reform by sharing stories and experiences of women voters and leaders throughout the United States.

Ms. McReynolds is one of the country’s leading experts on election administration and policy. During her career, she has proven that designing pro-voter policies, voter-centric processes, and implementing technical innovations will improve the voting experience for all voters. During her time in Denver, the elections office was transformed into a national and international award-winning election office.

Ms. Donner has spent her career devoted to the development of women and girls. She served as Governor Hickenlooper’s Chief Legal Counsel. Stephanie founded the Galvanize Foundation, a 501(c)3) that exists to increase access to tech careers for women and people of color and was recognized as 9NEWS Leader of the Year in 2017 for those efforts.

When Women Vote won an EVVY award in 2020 from the Colorado Independent Publisher’s Association.

Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson praised the book saying, “Our democracy depends on every vote being counted and every voice being heard. I am grateful for this book highlighting the vital importance of empowering women – from every spectrum, perspective and walk of life – to raise their voice and ensure that they are heard in every powerful room in our country.”

Colorado 50-50 is partnering with the University of Denver Economics and Gender, Women’s and Sexuality Studies Departments, along with the Colorado Women’s Chamber of Commerce, whose Policy Committee Co-Chair Nicole Milo will be moderating the author talk. The Colorado League of Women Voters is also co-hosting. A big thanks to all our partners.
